Token access to GroupShare

Question

We know that in Trados Studio 2019 SR2 CU8, SDL fixed an issue with losing the token to GS after 12 hours of inactivity in Studio. We have users reporting that they see disconnections to our GroupShare server while using our automation tool. We wonder if we could be seeing the same 12-hour limit in our automation tool. So the questions are: 1. You mention that it's"inactivity" that caused the token to go stale. What operations keep this token fresh? For example, if our tool is calling a pretranslate task that takes several hours, does that guarantee that the token remains fresh, even if we go past the 12 hour mark? 2. If the answer is no, what functions did you call to refresh the token in Trados Studio 2019 SR2 CU8. Can we make the same calls in our automation tool?

The GroupShare authentication token expires after 12 hours regardless if you make requests to GS or not. Expiration time is not automatically extended. Solution is to ask for a new token which is just a matter of calling the login API which will give you a new token. 
 From what I understand in your situation you could do the following: 
 
 Record the time when you receive the token in your automation tool. 
 Check against that time if 12 hours have elapsed 
 If no continue use the token 
 If yes do a login request and replace the old token 
 Perform further requests using new token
