Planned for Future Release

Thank you for submitting a new idea for SDL TMS. I hope you don't mind but I moved this to the relevant place as "SDL Online Translation Editor" was not correct. In actual fact, we're in the process of streamlining the workflow for files through TMS to provide a more consistent approach across all products. As such, this idea is already planned for a future release of the software.

Track changes, segment history

Hello,

some feature requests from one of or translation agenices working in our TMS:

We currently have a vendor workflow where in-country reviews are done inside TMS, while ”Apply Changes from Comments” are done by downloading the Studio Packages and implementing/rejecting changes in Trados Studio.

Since there are no tracked changes and no segment history in the package, it can be very difficult for the translator to see exactly what has been changed.

Project managers who have access to TMS can see the segment history, but when we export Trados packages, the history is not enclosed.

This means that the translator must work "blindly" and can not compare the wording of the validator with how the translation was worded before.

There is a risk that the translator won’t be able to catch unjustified changes or deviations introduced by the validator.

When TMS creates Studio packages, segment history must be included, ideally with some Track Changes visual feature. It would also be helpful if SDL could specify which Trados versions (2011, 2015, 2017…) are supported to show and filter on segment history.

Example of segment history in TMS below.

The user interface is not practical, since long segments have to be scrolled, there is no Track Changes visualisation, and there’s no print-to-PDF feature that would give you a better overview.
