Under Community Review

Hi Naoko,

Thank you for your idea to help improve SDL TMS. For unknown segments, I believe this will be handled differently by allowing content across all files to be edited simultaneously (virtual merge) and then filtering out based on, for example, match percentage.

FOU functionality is something that is more interesting as it provides the opportunity to get a performance benefit. Having said that, future ways of working will most likely make this redundant as "real time" TM update and lookup will provide similar functionality with the added benefit of fuzzy matches and segment repair (upLift).

I'll leave the idea under review for now for others to comment.

Offer options for exporting unknown segments and FOU

Options to export unknown segments and FOU can provide a myriad of benefits, and they are available in Studio and Passolo.

Exporting and translating unknown segments can protect legacy content during translation and review process.

In a situation where a total word count is high, say 200K+ words but only a small percentage of the content is new and updated, with the rest being legacy, the option to export unknown segments could save a significant amount of of transferring and processing time for linguists and reviewers, while protecting legacy.

In a situation where a total word count is high, say 200K+ words but there is a high percentage of repetitions of content which are split among several hundreds of files, the option to export FOU segments could improve translation quality and save admin time for linguists and reviewers.

Thanks for considering,

Naoko
