Idea Delivered Partially

This has now been delivered through the AI Professional app, see  RWS AppStore. It uses AI to refine the terminology in an NMT suggestion and apply terms from the local, server or cloud termbase. See the URL for more info.

Insert termbase term automatically into machine translation result

Automatically combining machine translation with your personal termbase terminology (or that of your organization or customer) could reduce the work load considerably.

An example for NL>FR: In Belgium we translate 'gemeente' into 'commune'. However, our current MT provider always translates into 'municipalité', which is used in France, so we have to change it every time, and make sure we do not forget to change it.

Thanks

  • I think this is a great idea and have to wonder why this idea has not been materialized in any new versions of Trados since this was posted. I thought of the same thing and explained to a technical assistance person by chat, and she advised me to post this idea.  I went through the past proposals and found this post. For translation, there is a function ("pre-translation" in English?, not sure as my trados is in Japanese) with which you can get all the exact/similar translation of sentences/paragraphs in one go. I would like to have a similar function for multiterm - just click and you get all the matching words in the cells for translation.  This way you don't have to click to import a matching word one by one as you go through your translation work. Hope this idea gets new attention so that we can get it as soon as possible.
