Change location of users.dat file for accessibility with a roaming profile and consistency with other SDL tools

SDL Trados Studio, MultiTerm and Passolo (Translator) 2016 use the location ...\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL by default for user-specific settings files when a roaming profile in a multi-user environment is used. For Passolo, this includes several *.dat files. However, the users.dat file from Passolo is not located in that folder, but under C:\ProgramData\SDL\Passolo (Translator) 2016 (if connected as an admin) or C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\ProgramData\SDL\Passolo (Translator) 2016 (if connected as standard non-admin user).

We were told this behaviour is by design in Passolo since approx. 2000, but in order to make it work with a roaming profile in a multi-user environment that doesn't use the C: drive but another location for the ...\[username]\AppData\Roaming folder, we would need this to be adjusted, so that the Passolo user names can be changed to the user's preference in their individual virtual Desktop session.
