Product Release: SDL Connector for Sitecore - September 2020

Dear Community,

We released a new version of the connector solution for Sitecore 8x and 9x.

This new release brings many front-end and back-end features to support translation project creation and management.

Version 0.4.0

Key features with this release are:

  • Extended support for Sitecore Content
Translation projects can now be created from the Content Editor, Experience Editor and Media Library.
  • Linked/Related Items
When users create translation projects, they have the option to include all linked/related items that the chosen items includes. This includes linked media items, pages and other Sitecore items. The user can set the depth at which the connector checks through to find all related items.
  • Multiple Draft Projects
Users can create multiple draft projects, extending the use of the connector to multiple content owners simultaneously.
  • Language Mapping
A custom language mapping component has been included, allowing Sitecore languages to be mapped to SDL languages. This allows Sitecore site developers to set English (en) as their base source language, or map French (fr) to French Canadian (fr-CA) in SDL.
  • Item Translation Filters
Extended support for translation rules is now supported in the module, allowing a Sitecore developer to set which templates or items are translatable, and which item fields should be translated, not translated, or copied from source. Fallback feature is retained where required.
  • User Experience features
A number of end-user experience features have been included:
    1. Improved performance on the Translation Projects table loading.
    2. When a user updates a project state, or refreshes the Translation Project table, the Translation Project table remain on the page/project the user was working on. In previous versions, the table reverted to page 1.
    3. Users have an addition action button to archive all projects that are completed translation.
