Dear All,
do anyone know if Trados has any option which helps it to recognize all tags from the source file? Because we found out that after creating the project some tags have been recognized (e.g. CDATA) and some have not (e.g. H3, STRONG, DIV) - Trados see them as a regular text and also count it as such.
Thank you in advance for help.

  • Hi Monika,

Always good to at least tell us what version of the software you are using and what types of files you are translating. This can help guide the response to make it more useful for you.

Generally when this happens it's because the file has not been prepared correctly for translation. Depending on the filetype there are various ways to handle embedded content, which is what we are probably talking about if the tags are showing as text.

If you are unable to affect the prepared file because this was don't by others and you only have the SDLXLIFF files for translation then you may be able to add tags afterwards using the Cleanup Task app from the SDL AppStore:

  • Did you create or use the proper file type? If you open a XML file and use AnyXML, do not expect too much. AnyXML are just basic settings, which allow you to open the XML, but will not parse the tags as they should be. In such case I wouldn't also wonder, if tags/tag groups would be missing.

    Hi Paul,

thank you for your help. Cleanup app worked perfect! Now, we have updated our Studio version for 2019 and unfortunately it isn't compatible. Is there any option in Trados 2019 which replaced funcionality of Cleanup app and works the same?

Thank you in advance for you reply.
