Trados Studio 2017 - How to auto refer to DeepL plugin and auto translate all Trados cells in one click (without having to manually click Ctrl + Enter for each cell)

Dear Trados experts,

Pardon me if the  question has been asked before (I already did due diligence and searched, but it was to no avail...),

but currently I'm facing a situation where I have large files (over 30, 50 x A4 pages worth).

I'm using the DeepL plugin and it auto-propagates suggested translations into each cell as I translate, which is good as I can check and edit before confirming with Ctrl + Enter.

However, for instance when the translation doesn't require high accuracy (e.g. for people to simply grasp a general gist or content), I'd like to have Tradios Studio 2017 do a one-shot mass auto-propagate and skip the need for me to manually press Ctrl + Enter.

This is to save a lot of time, as I will no longer have to manually hit Ctrl + Enter  keys for each cell, wait for the computer to process and move on to the next cell, and repeat.

How may I do this? (I.e., Have Trados Studio auto-propagate all cells with the suggested translations from the DeepL plugin at once, and I simply "Save Target As" to get a  purely machine translated file without having to do human checks per cell)

Thank you very much for any assistance.

  • Hello ,

You can use the Batch Task - Pre-translate option

This will then Pre-translate from the translation providers set under Project Settings (TM's/MT Providers)

    And then save.

This will provide you the required target files without human interaction.

If you are using TM's- you will probably want to disable 'Update' to prevent the MT translations being added as these haven't been edited/verified.

  • Hello Steven Whale,

Thank you so much! You have saved me from  clicking Ctrl + Enter a gazillion times.

    PS
I tried this on an Excel form, and I'm glad to report that I've got some success. (source JP> target EN)
Though perhaps in part due to the complicated formatting of my Excel file, certain columns remained untranslated (e.g. company names in a Column A remained in source JP text).

However, I then proceeded to Pre-translate that odd column anew, and managed to have that auto-translated.

So despite such hiccups, overall still a great time saver!
    Many thanks again.
