Wanted to use the comment view plug-in
once downloaded it doesn't open or run as intended with the Trados plug-in installer
Using Studio 2019 SR2
You will probably need to provide more exact information about what is happening. My copy of Trados Studio 2019 SR2 also had problems with this plug-in, mainly with drawing it into the user interface it seems. Got a bunch of "unexplained" errors. My solution was to cut out all my existing plug-ins, install the comment plug-in, ensure that it worked, and then paste all the other plug-ins back in. To try it, you'll have to find the right plug-in folders (documents/username/AppData/Roaming I THINK!!!! in Windows 10). Otherwise, post more information, and I'm sure someone here can help.
well I downloaded it okay when I click on it nothing happens unlike other plug-ins which prompt to install
In that case, there's something else wrong. Make sure you've downloaded the right version. Opening it should open the wizard. If it doesn't try restarting your system. You can also check in SDL Plugin Management if the plug-in may have actually installed after all. But it should definitely open/install unless the file associations are out of whack.
You can install it manually. Just copy the sdlplugin file you downloaded and put it here:
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\15\Plugins\Packages\
Then restart Studio.
Thanks Paul, copying the plugin to appdata got it working.
