Detecting language please wait for.......
Having just had a less than enjoyable first experience with the new built-in alignment tool (https://community.sdl.com/solutions/language/translationproductivity/f/90/p/14032/49847) , I thought I would provide some (I hope) constructive feedback by jotting down some notes and suggestions on how the tool could be generally improved (i.e. unrelated to the specific "bug"-related problems I encountered):
(I'm sure some of these ideas will have been mentioned by others. Nevertheless, I wanted to provide as complete a list as I could)
Suggestions and Notes
I realize this is quite the long list and that not everything may seem terribly important at first glance or at all. Some notes may even seem petty, depending on one's personal preferences. I absolutely accept that.
However, I will say that SOMETHING needs to be done if the tool is to become useful. I say become, because in its current form it is not an improvement over ancient Winalign! (And that is not even taking into account the crashes and exporting problems I happened to encounter.) I appreciate any development work being done on this. Thank you.
Any news on new versions with additional features as suggested by FLorian?
Im using 2019 18.104.22.1681 and im not able to see any differences yet
With growing use of MT, alignment is becoming of extreme importance and there's a gap for these tools in the Market regarding new useful features. I also use Terminotix Align Factory Light and i will now try the new version to see if its better with new features
example: I would like to automatically disconnect all segments both in source and target that start with "http://.."
I can t figure out a way to do that but it would save me a HUGE amount of time as it seems to be a standard recurrent error
tell me something if you can pls
There is a lot of room for improvement with this Align function, I agree, although I like its basic functioning. In your case, the problem is at least partly very specific and caused by the fact that your target text splits up hyperlinks, so that you have two mentions of the URL the hyperlink refers to in the target while you have only one in the source. Why don't you declare the href value as non-translatable? (see screenshot below.)
Nota bene: The Align function will use the project setting of whichever project is active (bold) in the project list when you start the alignment. (If you find that odd, then vote for my proposal to change it: https://community.sdl.com/ideas/translation-productivity-ideas/i/trados-studio-ideas/explicitly-select-file-type-settings-for-alignments)
interesting...i didnt know that detail..I will realilgn hidding hyperlinks BUT maybe you can help me...
-this isnt html. These are 2 docx files and the file type doesnt have the same settings
-should i use a specific style (hyperlink) as non-translatable text?
Ah, I very seldom handle Word files, but try this:
