Hello, this is my first question to the community and I hope you guys can help :)
I recently started getting an error message saying "Parameter is not valid" whenever I get towards the end of a file (i.e. the bottom of the Editor window).
I keep getting the same error message regardless of the file format, the TM or the options I use. The whole editor freezes and I am unable to type anything in any of the segments, so I have to save, close and re-open the document to finish it. The message itself does not give me any other info, perhaps you know what it means or have experienced something similar?
Hi Christina Mausolf
Take a look at the solution suggested by Paul, here:
Parameter not valid
Please post again to let us know if that resolves your issue. If not, further possible solutions exist.
All the best
I'm very pleased Paul's solution worked for you.
All the best,
Hi Alison Field, unfortunately after one or two projects the error message about the invalid parameter has reappeared and is now more persistent than ever... :) You mentioned other possible ways to fix this, perhaps you can help me out? Best Christina
Hi Christina Mausolf,
First of all, please try running a Windows Repair of Studio, via Control Panel...
Close all SDL applications.
Open the Control Panel via Windows button>Windows System>Control Panel:
Windows Vista/7: Start > Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
Windows 8: Right-click on the screen at bottom-left corner and choose Control Panel > Uninstall a Program.
Windows 10: Right-click on Start (Windows button) >Windows System > Control Panel > Select View by: Small Icons > Programs and Features.
Click/highlight the relevant SDL product in the list (e.g. SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR1) and click Repair on the top toolbar (or in right-click context menu).
Repeat the above for the MultiTerm components.
I periodically repair all components of MultiTerm then I repair Studio, in that order. I do this after each update/upgrade of SDL Studio/MultiTerm and also after big Windows automatic updates.
Dear Alison Field,
I have got the same problem as Christina Mausolf since I downloaded and installed SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR1.
I followed the steps you gave to Christina Mausolf and repaired all components of MultiTerm and Studio, but I still get this error message: "Parameter is not valid" when I enter a "d" or a "l" or the shortcut to enter a tag. Could you or anyone please help me to solve this annoying issue?
