I'm using Trados Studio 2019 and I found the following issues.
I'm not sure if there are solutions to them.
If no, you may consider to fix them in the future upgrades.
1. Non-breaking spaces are not shown in the translation (Target Language: Taiwan Traditional Chinese) even "Show Whitespace Characters" is turn on. Only the non-breaking spaces in the source is visible.
2. The non-breaking space in the beginning of a segment is automatically removed in Trados Studio. However, when the package is imported back to the Worldserver, the white space is automatically added back. It would cause an issue that if the non-breaking space is redundant in the translation.
I just tested this with SDL Trados Studio 2019 SR1 - 126.96.36.199768 and don't see this issue. This is the target side in Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) and I have no problem seeing a non-breaking space.
In your WS example the non-breaking space may be getting moved into structure seeing as it's at the start... certainly if it gets put back this suggests it is there, just hidden. Try viewing "All content" as opposed to "All segments" and see whether this is the case.
Thank you for the reply.
"All content" does help a lot.
However, I still don't see the non-breaking space in the translation.
I'm not sure if it is the font issue.
Would you mind sharing the font you are using for the target language?
Hi Ricky Lee
I only used the Studio defaults, so no specific font just what Studio considers appropriate:
I have the same settings as you but I still don't see the non-breaking space in the translation.
Hello Ricky Lee ,
maybe you can share a test file and we can then do a comparison.
Hello :) I am having the same issue with non-breaking spaces being not visible (after I try to replace them - by find and replace - all in a document, however the non-breaking space is visible when I manually insert it) after my Studio was reset. Has your issue been solved, please? Some advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you. Lenka
