A direct client has sent me a In Design file for translation. However, when I try to upload it in Trados 2017, I get a message that the file has been created with In Design CS4 and can't be processed.
Something similar has happened to me previously (although with Studio 2014), and the agency could always send a different version that I could use, so I hope that it's also possible to sort it now.
However, as this time is a direct client, I'd need to tell them exactly what I need. I know nothing about In Design. Do you know if they can send me a different version that I can use and what exactly I should ask for?
Thanks a lot,
HelloDiana Llorente Garijo ,
Please go to File/Options/File Types and enable - 'Process unsupporeted file types'-
You will need to create a new project for this to work (the changes will not have any effect on existing projects)- but you should now be able to work the files.
Thanks a lot. I just found that solution. However, I seem to lose a few hundreds words compared to the pdf. I was wondering if this is because of settings such as extract hyperlinks, or other types of texts (I think that indexes are missing, for example).
Do you know what I should mark to have a file as close to the original one as possible?
Or is this OK because the missing indexes (maybe there is something else missing) will reappear magically in the target document? (I can try this with the client, but I'd rather send it when I'm a bit sure of what I'm doing.
Thanks a lot!
