I translate a document in Word where a lot of comments are attached to the text. When I imported the document in Studio 2017, the comments were not picked up by the program and I can't translate them. I work in cooperation with a colleague whose Studio does include these comments. What should I do to have Studio include these comments in the editor ? In the meantime I am working on my colleague's xliff doc.
Hi Julie Porter
There is a tickbox that will achieve this for you, accessible via File>Options>File Types>Microsoft Word (version according to the file):
It's also accessible in Project settings but once you've made a project, changing this setting won't make any difference as the file will already have been processed for translation. You can, however, change it in a project template ready for the next project created on that template.
The above screen will look slightly different to yours because I took the screenshot in Studio 2019.
Hope this helps,
All the best,
Thank you very much Allison, I will change my settings. I am grateful for your fast answer.
Hi Julie Porter
You're very welcome
Always glad to help,
I did see the tick box and ticked it but again I have a template without comments and don't seem to know how to create a new template, this is a bit annoying, don't know what I am doing wrong.
Did you tick the box before you created the template?
That would be File>Options>File Types>Microsoft Word (version according to the file)... to create a new project template, you would select 'Create a new project template based on the project'
OR Project settings > File Types > Microsoft Word (version according to the file)... in an existing project template at the last page of the project creation wizard you would select to update the existing project template... ready for next time...
You can't change that setting on an existing project. Well, actually, you can but it won't have any effect...
Does this help???
