Been getting this error message for two unrelated word files in the last two days. The workaround suggested here for Trados 2017 worked for one of them (unchecked this file type and used Word 2007 v. 188.8.131.52) in the new project wizard, but haven't gotten to finalizing this project yet, so who knows if it keeps. However, why am I getting this at all, for a wordx file that I just saved locally on Word 2016? What is going on?
Hello Shmuel Pfeifel ,
I think it would be good if you could post the exact and full error message and explain which word versions the files were created in.
To test if you can save the files- start a new single file translation- open the file in the editor and then immediately SAVE AS.
If you have a problem here- then this should mean there is an issue with the original source file itself which then needs to be looked at.
This earlier thread- should explain the possible issue you might be facing-
In a more general note, as I previously mentioned to Paul in another matter, Trados 2019 seems to be significantly less stable than previous iterations. Instead of a reliable work horse, like it used to be, it has become a finicky shrew, throwing all kinds of strange fatal errors regularly, including this current malfunction. As a regular client for many years this is your most unreliable and disappointing product. Please forward this on.
