We have a problem with the new cumulative update 18 regarding the use of our custom filetype. They are not anymore displayed in the filetype list and can't be found in the "additional filetypes available" link. In the same project opened in 2017, CU17, the file types are displayed.
I already had this problem with Studio 2019 CU4 and found this information by Tom Imhof:
https://community.sdl.com/developers-more/developers/language-developers/f/sdk_qa/27536/cu4-of-studio-2019---creating-the-project-object-leads-to-exception-the-requested-service-is-not-available-sdl-desktop-platform-services-iusersettingsservice/87662#87662 . Here, there's a notice by Robert Cornea about a "configuration issue in CU 4" and "SimpleInjector". With CU5, everything works again, so the problem has been found and solved.
The problem in Studio 2017/CU18 may be related.
Have you already encountered it? Do you need more information?
sorry, I first mentioned a problem with the Visio filters but they work correctly. I've just edited the post.
Hello Sébastien Desautel ,
We are looking into this and will test this ASAP.
I will let you know if we need to raise a bug for this.
The information you found by Tom Imhof it's only related to an issue discovered in CU 4, Studio 2017 doesn't have this. Let me see if I understood correctly so you have this problem with Studio 2017 CU 18 but not with Studio 2019 CU 5 ?
Could you provide us with the custom file type or at least a dummy one that contains the initialization of the custom file type ?

--> Yes that's right. The file type works with Studio 2019 CU3 and CU5 and with Studio 2017 until CU17.
I sent you a link to a dummy file type in a direct message.
Thanks for your support
Thank you for your support with your help we identified the issue and logged a bug (LG-21702). There seems to be an issue when you are trying to overwrite a filter that is a template as currently the templates are filtered out from this functionality. This was introduced in Studio 2017 CU 18 and Studio 2019 CU 5 and it will be fixed in the next CU's. The workaround would be to create you own filter or overwrite an existing one.
Thank you Robert
