A couple of weeks ago I clicked on the trados icon and was surprised to see "Let’s setup SDL Trados studio". So I set it up again, and all the projects disappeared from the list. Trados didn't want a password or anything, and it recognised me easily enough (I could see my name in the top right corner). But all my settings had disappeared and I had to disable the Regex Match Autosuggest Provider plugin because I got this message "No registration for type RegexMatchAutosuggest Provider and an implicit registration could not be made. Unexpected exception when initialising view part Regex Match Autosuggest Provider". It was a bit of a pain, but still workable. But today again when I switched on my computer I got "Let’s setup SDL Trados studio". Why is this happening? Why does Trados keep on wanting me to do a setup?
Hello Lewis Paines ,
Studio doesn't have any settings that will force an automatic reset-
-so its perhaps worth looking at your AntiVirus settings and check that both Studio and MultiTerm are added to the AV's 'exceptions list'.
Also, if you have a tool such as CCleaner installed, perhaps check that this is not deleting the Studio settings file.
Thanks, I've added Studio and Multiterm to the AV exception list. I'll just have to wait and see if it tries to reset again.I still can't get the regex autosuggest provider to work though. When I activate the plugin I get that message "No registration for type RegexMatchAutosuggest Provider could be found".
The error would suggest there is an issue with the plugin (Regex).
Click the Windows icon- bottom left corner of your screen and start typing SDL Plugin Management (Studio 2019) - navigate to the plugin and remove.
Now reinstall from the app store- and see if the error is resolved.
appstore.sdl.com/.../
Plugin removed and reinstalled, but I'm still getting the same "No registration..." message. I'm logged in to Trados, so I don't understand the no registration thing. And I'm getting no autosuggestions from the TM either
Any idea how I can get Trados working with Regex Match Autosuggest Provider (reinstalling it did not help)? It was a very handy little plugin and saved a lot of typing.
Just so we can check, please close Studio, then navigate to the following folder
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\16\Plugins and ensure the plugin is removes from the Packages and Unpacked folders.
Now reopen Studio and try once more to install
Tried that, and it didn't help. What's more, I have got that "Let's set up SDL Trados Studio" message again this morning, so adding Trados to the exceptions list in my AV software didn't prevent the forced resets. This is all very frustrating - if it wasn't for the fact that some clients insist on using Trados, I would go back to using Wordfast. It's a strange reset though, because I don't have to enter my password or anything, and Trados recognises me, but every time it happens, something different changes. For example, the first time it happened, the list of project disappeared. Today that didn't happen - all the projects are still listed correctly - but this time some of the keyboard shortcuts have changed.
