Accessing SDL Studio GroupShare or SDL WorldServer WebUI is requesting Microsoft Silverlight installation

• Root Cause:
The SDL Studio GroupShare WebUI and SDL WorldServer website is using the embedded content type Microsoft Silverlight to display the GroupShare WebUI. The embedded content type Microsoft Silverlight (similiar such as Adobe Flash and Java applets) are displayed in most browsers via NPAPI. As of version 42.x of the web browser Google Chrome is deactivating the so-called NPAPI Plugin feature that is allowing content types to be viewed in the browser, in this specific case the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in for viewing the SDL Studio GroupShare WebUI and/or SDL WorldServer website.
The following link refers to The Chromium Projects site by Google with further information:

www.chromium.org/.../npapi-deprecation

Important Note:
From Version 45.x onwards, the NPAPI Plugin feature is completely removed.

Resolution:
Enable the NPAPI feature in Google Chrome pasting (applicable only with versions 42.x)
Open Google Chrome.
Type the following into the address bar: chrome://flags/#enable-npapi.
Press Enter.
Locate Enable NPAPI Mac, Windows and click Enable:

Relaunch Google Chrome and open the SDL Studio GroupShare WebUI.
NOTE: Once Google Chrome launches, you may also need to unblock the plugin for the SDL Studio GroupShare / SDL WorldServer site if the plugin is being blocked with the message:
Silverlight needs your permissions to run.
In this case do one of the following:
right click on the page and select Run this plug-in
select Always allow plug-in on... by clicking on the red cross icon in the right corner of the address bar:

Problem persists?...
Open Google Chrome.
Type the following into the address bar: chrome://settings/.
Click Show Advanced Settings > Privacy > Content Settings... > Pop-ups > Manage exceptions...
Enter the SDL Studio GroupShare website address, for example:
[*.]myserver.groupshare.corp or
https://[*.]myserver.groupshare.corp
Click Finish
