Are freelance licenses able to access Cloud Group Share?

Hi all,

We've just updated to the Cloud and our internal translators can access the Group Share files no problem.  However, our freelance translators with freelance SDL licenses can't access our Cloud Group Share even though we were told that they could.  I'm perplexed and we're having a hard time figuring this out.  If anyone has any experience with freelance SDL licenses and the Cloud that would be great!

Thanks

Sue

  • Hi ,

    You can find a comparison of Studio editions and their feature sets here.

    As you can see, the Freelance edition is capable of working with server-based (GroupShare) resources. If your freelancers are having trouble connecting to GroupShare Cloud then this is most likely either because you have not set them up correctly in GroupShare Cloud, or because the freelancer is not configuring the GroupShare Cloud server correctly in Studio.

    For instructions on how to set up GroupShare users for the freelancers, please follow the instructions on page 12 (PDF page 20) of the SDL Trados GroupShare Cloud 2017 - Quick Start Guide.

    Once the freelancer's account has been set up, they should then add the server in Studio like so:

    1. Click File -> Setup -> Servers.
    2. Click Add... to add the new server.
    3. Type the Server Address as cloud.sdlgroupshare.com
    4. VERY IMPORTANT: Tick the box next to This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
    6. Click Next and type the Username and Password exactly the same as the credentials you created for them.
    7. Click Finish and then Close.

    Screenshots illustrating this can be found on page 5 (PDF page 13) of the Quick Start Guide.

    Please let me know if this resolves this issue.

    Kind regards,
    Nick
