Hi Joseph Heider - to achieve that, create a folder that has a subfolder called ReferenceFiles and one called SourceFiles. Zip both of them and add that zip file to your GroupShare project. I just tested this on Studio 2021 CU2 + GroupShare 2020 SR1 CU3 and it works like a charm. If you are using older version it may not work. Let us know how it went! Make sure when you create the zip, you select the 2 folders and not their parent. So the zip should have the 2 folders directly in it. Otherwise it won't work.

Thanks Adrian, this does work for now. Previously I'd simply changed the PDF's that were reference files to other non-editable source file types that were still Adobe compatible, like .ps to ensure they're added as reference files.  Though I'm not able to actually see the reference files in GroupShare, will this be something that changes in the near future? Especially if a linguist is using the online editor, it would be good to have access to this information from within the translation environment.
