XPP on linux - accessed via VDI

Hello fellow XyUsers

Currently we access our XPP on linux using Exceed on a Citrix desktop, however our IT department is no longer supporting Citrix and our new option is to use VDI, which we are also using Exceed on it to access XPP.

However, we are experiencing significant slowing when navigating and composing via this method of access. Is anyone using VDI and if so do you have any suggestions on how to improve performance.

Much appreciated - Chris Cigno - Thomson Reuters

  • Hello Chris,

A previous employer did experience a performance hit when the XPP server was deployed into a different network segment from the client machines and separated by an internal firewall. The ports that had to be opened for inbound and outbound connections were:
45579 (BGQuer), 2994 (auto proc and background processing), 5053 and 5054 for licensing.

Beyond network segmentation related bottlenecks, I have seen performance hits when XPP clients were connecting to an XPP server/instance over a WAN connection.

    Kind regards
    Thomas
