The idea implementation is scheduled for the upcoming Sites 9.5. It will be possible to check where to publish in the list of child publications. More to that, new UI will allow unchecking the current publication so that publishing will happen in a set of child publications only.

Publish to Select Child Publications (instead of all child publications)

Today in the publishing window you can select to publish to all child publications. It would be nice to have the option to select certain child publications to publish to out of the full list, when you are publishing to more than one child but don't necessarily want to publish to all children.

  • I once implemented an events system that allowed publishing of selected child publications based on metadata, so there's definitely a use-case for it. You also see implementations where there's an extra publication in the blueprint just to allow control of which children to publish.
