Accepted, Not Yet Planned

Update: Though this is a great idea, this specific request is currently not planned based on our program planning and prioritization of all Tridion Sites ideas for early 2018. We may revisit this and other great ideas based on more information and additional votes.

Improve item-specific blueprint context visibility in content explorer

I think it would be very useful to have a view of the parent publication "chain" for each item via the right-click menu.  Here is an example of what it could look like for a component in a child publication (French language Canada website of a global company):

300 content master - (origin) - last edited 2017-01-01
500 structure master - (not localized on this level)
700 north america parent publication - (not localized on this level)
710 canada english - (local copy) - last edited 2017-08-08
810 canada french - (local copy) - last edited 2017-09-09

...and then you could open the item in any of the parent publications via this same popup.

For this purpose, it would not be necessary to display the whole blueprint tree with all the siblings/branches like the blueprint viewer.  In fact, finding this kind of info via the blueprint viewer doesn't seem to even be possible now.

  • The information isn't in context of the list view, but you can use the BluePrint viewer to see the item across the BluePrint including BluePrinting status (Original, Shared, etc.), approval status, version number, modification date, modification user, and publish status.

If the information not visible be sure to enlarge the BluePrint viewer and select an item in the tree (or submit an issue as this information should be visible when an item is selected in the viewer).

You can open or go to the location of items in the viewer as well.

I'm not sure from where this should be selected - perhaps right click the (or hovering) the blueprint label - would be nice to see parents but I guess when we have mulktiple parents it would need to somehow indicate this along with priority - perhaps needs a little more though / some pictorial examples?
