Support of GroupShare connected to SQL Server on Linux

Hello,

Microsoft announced SQL Server on Linux in 2016 (https://blogs.microsoft.com/blog/2016/03/07/announcing-sql-server-on-linux/) and SQL Server 2017 is now available.

It would be great that future GroupShare versions using a SQL Server database on Linux can be supported.

Thanks for your attention.

  • Hi  - interesting topic! Have you already tried this or do you know the specific technical details of it? In the article you sent I can see this: "This will enable SQL Server to deliver a consistent data platform" - so maybe it will simply work as if it would be on a Windows machine? I also read this "SQL Server 2017 now runs on Linux. It’s the same SQL Server database engine, with many similar features and services regardless of your operating system." in this article: docs.microsoft.com/.../sql-server-linux-overview - So maybe there's nothing that application developers need to do different to work with it? If you have more insight, please share it.
