Hello Helen Ryan ,
Is this a question in relation to SDL Trados Studio?
Could you provide more information to what you would like to achieve, maybe even some screen shots would be helpful.
I am in XPP. Below is a sample of the client style.
.
Hi Helen,
You didn't say what version of XPP you are running, but both the <lf> XyMacro for regular text and the <leader> macro for tables allow the leader character to be specified, and you should be able to specify the underscore character.
See the description of these macros and their arguments in the XyMacros manual. For <lf> the leader character is the first argument and for <leader> it is the second argument. At some point the ability to specify the leader character for <leader> for tables was an enhancement that was made, but any newer release of XPP would have that.

Helen,
I agree with Jonathan.
A simple <lf;_> should do what you want to do.
Or if you want more control over the thickness and position of the rule:
Portfolio ending date<ul;1><lf><ul;0>8/5/2021<qa>
(you can control any of the 10 underline styles in the division or job ticket)
Thank you Jonathan and Bart. We are running xpp 9.3. I will try using <lf;_> as suggested and if we need to more control, I will use <ul;1><lf><ul;0>. This has been very helpful.
