A Sneak Peek of the Graphene Experience Manager (With More at the Developer Summit!)

Earlier this year I explained my move into a new exciting role to kickstart the SDL Graphene design framework in SDL Tridion Sites.

So far, this work included a look at all the jobs an editor performs when managing content in the context of a managed website. We also considered ways to group up or map relevant stories in a way that delivers related functionality and value sooner.

Most recently my team worked on a "read-only" Experience Manager feature that focused on how an editor interacts with and understands content on a given page. The following video shares some of this in-progress work, including item selection, content border behavior, and the breadcrumb along with item viewers such as:

  • Where Used
  • Item History
  • Item Compare prototype

We will present more on Day 2 (September 7) of the 2018 Tridion Developer Summit including SDL Graphene Design principles, the future user interface, and supporting architecture.

Note that the Graphene work is planned for a future version of SDL Tridion Sites 9. Though there are some UI updates planned for Sites 9 and 9.1, those releases will not include a new Experience Manager User Interface. If you haven't already, check out the invitation to give us feedback on the User Experience beyond Tridion Sites 9 part 1 and part 2.

We're also looking for research volunteers that could either help us validate some scenarios or provide some realistic environments to test some of our technical details. Read more about the UX Research Program or ping us in the Community-sponsored Slack channel under #research if you'd like to volunteer.
